so why did you build an n/a engine in an sti?? why not an rs.. how about when you are done wiht getting your quals.. with an r/s you couldnt put in a turbo engine correct??? man that Nasioc is something else...
Why are you running a staggered wheel setup? If they where omfghellaflush yore car wuld do 200whps and excel fastor mspaint pictures = massive :laugh::laugh: Keep 'em coming!
Holy ****ing ROFL at the mspaint pictures. I lol'd. Hard. Sure man, we can take a look at the tune anytime, you just let me know.
I wrote a faq that covers the basics SlowTI faq: Q: The hp and tq seems low, why is that? A: The engine is still using turbo cams and exhaust manifold. It dynos close to what a stock 10:1 2.5i motor makes which has been built n/a and is not an odd frankenstein like this engine. The tune is focused on reliablity over power. It did push the rollers to 150whp on one run. Q: Why not change the cams, exhaust manifold, etc. to gain more power? A: This is a temporary engine. We are using this engine for one season to gain enough Rally America coefficients to move to an unrestricted license. Without the unrestricted license we cannot run an awd car with a turbo. The purpose of this engine is not to be fast or competative, it is merely there to run reliably so we can finish races. This is our stepping stone. Q: Why do an n/a ej257 instead of swapping? A: Wiring. As stated, this is a temporary set-up. Our next turbo motor will still be an ej257. Going the route we did makes it all very simple to go back and forth. Q: A 5spd would be better with your n/a engine, why the 6spd? A: Maybe. I would have to buy a 5spd. That costs money. A used 5spd would be of questionable condition - I could easily grenaded a used 5spd on stage. I own a 6spd. The 6spd is much stronger and less likely to fail. The 6spd has DCCD. Q: Why does your car have doorcards? A: Rally America requires doorcards. Q: Why does your car have a radio? A: It's a little pointless I'll admit. However, we still drive this car on the street occassionally (to TSD rallies and car shows/meets). The car is obnoxiously loud and the radio kill some of the road noise. Q: Why did you take off the brembos? A: Rally tires come in small sizes - there are no 17" gravel tires. In order to run rally tires we needed brakes that could clear 15" wheels, hence the 4/2 pots (group n's) Q: What's with the dash? A: The dash is flocked (material from www.donjer.com). It reduces glare from the sun. This is also why the rear decklid is flat black. Q: Why is the interior white if you want to reduce glare? A: The dash and decklid cause the most glare issues. The white makes spotting cracks, holes, and fractures easier than on a dark colored surface Q: How does the handbrake work? A: The handbrake is a hydraulic unit. It goes in-line with the rear brake lines. There is a proportioning valve on the side that allows the front to rear brake bias to be set. Pulling the handle will actuate the rear calipers.
^^ Actually, High quality "stolen-photocopier-time" prints will go on sale to the public at nemadji trail for a mere $199. Own a part of history!
For people that don't already know, Ziptie Rally Team entered the Nemadji Trail 1 Rally last weekend and took our first victory! We won the Open Light Class. (There was only one other car in the class, IIRC a 99 RS with a WRX/STI drivetrain swap (N/A motor of course~per Open Light rules)) Next weekend we're heading to Chilton, WI for Gravity Park Performance Rally on May 23rd for some fun times! You can search Youtube for a Gravity Park Rally Video. (Art Rally Team) Then we're back at Nemadji Trail 2 Rally on June 13th!!! If anyone would like to watch us race Nemadji is a great venue within 1.5 hours of the cities.
