Back with another build thread. (previous build)

Pretty early in the process though.

For round 1 I plan to just get this thing on the road. I'm not going to throw the kids college fund at this thing so again, expect s̶o̶m̶e̶ much imperfection.

Anyhow, I Picked up this 2000 2.5RS Coupe from another member who was going to part it out. It had a bad rod bearing but since I had 2 good blocks in my garage I decided to extend it's life for a while.
We were actually able to drive it up on the trailer. (I am surprised at how reasonable a truck and car hauler was from U-Haul)

And I was able to drive it into my garage.

It's got some rust but surprisingly less than my 2002 OBS.

This past week I pulled the engine. (crappy photos, broke the camera on my phone)

This weekend a friend and I assembled the shortblock and the heads with new timing belt and head gaskets.
Then yesterday I dropped it back into the car.

The drivers door was hit, so I picked up a new door from another member on the forums this weekend also.

It looks like a fun little car, and I hope to be driving it mid-week.
I'm going to use this as a commuter while I go through and work out of few niggles of my EG33 Outback Sport, but next summer this should be another fun project.

    Future plans:
-More power, perhaps EG33 and/or Turbo swap.

    Getting it back together.

After throwing the motor in and turning it over I heard some crazy grindy sound coming from the clutch area. Also the clutch felt very weird.
So I was pretty much left with no choice but to pull the engine back out.

Turns out the cover for the flywheel was wedged in the bell housing. Damn that sucked ;)

    Moving right along.

I pulled the old door off and the fender.

Started swapping components from the door.

Testing the door components before I put it back together.

    Fitting the door.

    Starting to come together.
Doing the wheel bearing / ball join / CV Axle.

Also put the magic "Engine Restorer" in this beast. The heads are in surprisingly good shape but the block was just one that had been sitting around for awhile. Sounds very good for an extra parts motor.

Hope to throw the axle back on tonight and take it for a spin.

Car is running great. I've got it all cleaned up and it should be good for a daily driver this winter.

There are a few things that I still need if anyone has some spares laying around.
    • Blinker wiring harness (might have to pull this from a junk yard)
    • Center dash console with pop up lid or Compass / barometer insert
I think I will put some Hella 500's in where the fog lamps used to be.

Hey E-Z, I've got two 2.5RS fogs out of my RSVX that are almost like new. Would let them go for $80.
