There's enough buttfists on this forum that got a tingle in their trousers over Ken "DNF" Block's "rally" videos that are going to go out and show the world that they are the next Petter Solberg, and pitch the car into a ditch or curb. The question is, will they swallow their pride and tell us all about it, or will they stealthily put up a WTB thread for one wheel?
We can always have Erik let us know who's calling in for suspension parts... Paging @AWDimprezaL to the thread...
I got stock parts from my FXT and some left overs from the STI swap. So feel free to msg me discretely folks I won't tell haha
Just let me know when someone needs this stuff. From a 98-01 RS, not sure of other models/years crossover.
And so it begins... http://mnsubaru.com/threads/wtb-200...nd-fender-and-fender-liner.47913/#post-787642
I'll own up, I slide into a curb trying to power over the plow pile leaving the parking lot of my apartment. I am apparently not Solberg. I don't think i broke anything but I may be preemptively looking for an extra oem rim as a spare for the winter.
How does one "bump" their vehicle into something and require a new bumper cover, head light, and fender.
My first subie was a forester. Always felt like it handled best in snow. I never hit a curb and only ever went aggressive when there was nothing to hit. I can't imagine folks who love their cars as much as we do would drive like idiots. These things are not cheap to fix. I guess when money and stupid collide.
I saw a post on Facebook about an STi flooring it passed a buddy, only to hit the brakes and slide into a center median yesterday around lunch. Any new part out posts yet?
Not wrecking yet, but im surprised at the amount of understeer at 50/50 (pushing ALOT)....my first AWD I figured it would be a bit more maneuverable....but Im still playing with all the settings! Thankfully my ebrake skills are ninja!
It's a parking brake, brotato. Saw even more carnage today. 2 buses in 2 days was pretty lulzy. Especially considering how short my commute is. Dummies.
My first winter I cracked my bumper hitting something, still not sure what it was or when it happened. My second winter I broke a piece of plastic underneath the front end and directly in front of the driver side tire (looks like some sort of aero device) and pulled a few of those plastic pins out of both the front passenger and driver side fender liners. This year I'm thinking I will lose at least one fender liner and finish what I started with the bumper cover.
You're thinking? We need more commitment out of you. If you're going to ball it up, do it in a blaze of glory.
Parking brake/e brake/jack knife knob/o****stick....same outcome. Did have a curb hop today! Little one although thank baby Jesus! As far as throttle ninja....yeah, It still pushes.....I think the winter tires I have are not all they are cracked up to be. Michelin X-Ices....Work good on snow, but not ice oddly as they name ice right there on the tire Even before It snowed or iced, it started to get a bit colder and the roads were a bit wet and they were slidin all over the place.
Please, if you only knew my history with cars and winter you'd be a tad hesitant injecting such comments into my subconscious.
If you have it locked at 50/50 you steer with the throttle. If you don't like that, don't lock the diff. Locking the front and rear will cause understeer, period (look it up if you don't understand that). You are right in that you need to play with the settings to figure it out. The only time I used to lock it was when there was loose snow on the road and then steering with the throttle is the best way, anyway. I miss the STi in the winter...well, summer too.
I want more carnage. Other people's misery dealt by their own hand makes me smile. I am a big fan of Rob Dyrdek's Ridiculousness...and glad I am not the parent of teenage boys.
Yours is a different situation. We're referring to the Ken Block wannabes that usually go out hooning in snow on all seasons, spin out the car and tear it up on a curb. Sorry to see about your car man, hopefully you can get that sorted out soon. Summer tires on snow/ice is serious business, not a lot of people realize how much difference tires can make.
I do know the difference unfortunately. I ordered winter tires the day after I got the car, but didn't have anything else to drive in the meantime since I got rid of my other car already.
Sometimes you don't have much choice, I swapped my summers over about two weeks early once and thought I was going to die trying to come to a stop from 30 mph on a road with a light coating of frost. Look on the bright side, you've got the first scratch out of the way, the car is officially yours now. Scant comfort, I know.
I will not entertain your morbid curiosity. I'll just leave this here for you, weirdo. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115964/?mode=desktop
