There's a thread on this car throwing engine codes it probably hasn't been fixed as it's a public before whole sale. My friend bought a car of course without a compression check and it burned oil and needed a burnt valve replaced. He also bought the 3rd party warranty and the claim was denied. Morries had him pay half to fix it but of course my buddy is not a fighter and took it.

Oh yea. I remember reading that thread. Went to look at it today. Not going to trade in my Wrx. The Sti is strong but makes this loud grinding? noise if you punch it a little bit. And head gasket needed to be replaced. They wanted 15,800 for it.

Whoa that's a lot. He was gunna sell it/ended up getting for 10k for it..

 

Yeap, If the interior and exterior body was a lot cleaner I wouldn't mind though. But the seats are discolored, just real dirty inside, the curb marks on the rims and nicks and dents outside the body. Nope, I'll pass.

Checked out this Outback today and another 2003 they had as a potential replacement for my 1998. It looks pretty clean in the pictures but not as great in person. Quite a few dings, scratches, and paint issues. Was leaking oil even in the parking lot from the back of the motor and probably the valve covers. The guy tried to tell me the headgaskets had been replaced because you can see them sticking up between the block and the head, ahh sure ok. Obviously they had not been done. Passenger side inner CV boot was wide open and the motor did not sound healthy. Needless to say I didn't even drive it. Too many issues and potential issues for the price they're asking.

I ran a car fax on the VIN, it's a salvage title with non collision damage. Guy on the phone said it was due to water being inside the car.

Any thoughts???
