Seriously though... there has been some feedback that these "mega threads" with ongoing events are hard to follow. For the next few events I'll try creating a new thread for each event and using this one for "general" discussion, like the rally x/road rally event threads. I also completely forgot about the date in the title. I'll make sure that stays updated. Suppose I should stick my head in the google calendar too while I'm at it.

Dang it, how was I supposed to know that there was a drive and dine today? So pissed I missed it.

Haha JK! It was too much snow to pass up a day of skiing, so I hit the slopes. How was the drive and dine?

I'll admit, I didn't go. I was planning on it, but after driving to the mall in the morning, I decided it was best to stay off the streets as much as possible.

I'm going to try for the same route next month. There are some minor tweaks after the last attempt where either nobody showed up or I missed them. The lot I was using is technically a pay lot and there are some annoying semaphores to get around.

Nice usage of the word semaphores.

    *curtsy*

That's one of the more tedious parts of putting routes together. I try to avoid stoplights unless we can turn right, non-right-of-way scenarios, or snaking through too many residential neighborhoods with a lot of stop signs (nothing like a few blocks of roobles all stop-and-go-ing through your neighborhood).

The thing about being louder is more people tend to show up, and they are generally less likable than the ones you just pissed off.

Given the state of most of our cars, it's advisable to avoid comprehensive debate regarding legal rights on public roads in the middle of a traffic stop.

Not a half bad turnout for single digit temps! From what I gather folks had a decent time.

Next month... how long of a cruise do you guys want to do? Was the 30 minute cruise too short? Anything 30 minutes or less is generally going to involve city driving and would be similar to last weekend's cruise. Do we want to do another short cruise and keep it in the cities? Are we willing to do a 1-1.5 cruise and open the options to some more interesting roads?

Me, I don't really care how long or short it is.

    10 hours or 10 seconds, I don't care

It's just gas, I'll get more

Next month's Drive n' Dine destination has been tentatively selected! I need to make a run up there to ensure it's worthy of the mountains of praise it gets, and to get a feel for capacity. Assuming it all works out, we're looking at another shorty twin city metro cruise in the Roseville/St. Paul area. If it doesn't look like this location will work there were two others that are serious cage match contenders for the same type of food. If things get ugly I may just have to sacrifice myself for the greater good and try them all.

Updates coming very soon! Totally looking forward to lunch tomorrow...

QUESTION: Are Sunday afternoon's working out for schedules? I like it because it opens the options for the kinds of restaurants I want to hit. Hole in the wall shops with awesome food are tough to call with a reservation of "somewhere between 3 and 20" on a Friday/Saturday. That said, I'm always open to suggestions.

No sir, and yes it does!

My only issue with dim sum is it gets pricey quick. I would like to do it once for a drive n' dine though. Preferred locations?

I prefer Mandarin Kitchen, but of course it's one of the most expensive. :(

Not a problem. I'm not expecting cheap if I'm doing dim sum. It's like going out for sushi. Something is very, very wrong if your meal was $15 and you walked away full.

but how is that expensive? i wonder if it's expensive because it's mn. on the east coast in china town you can eat like a king for ~$9, they just keep rolling the carts around and you point to what you like because you don't understand chinese.

Depends its like $3-$5 per tin. Yes, it is because its MN. There's 3-4 authentic Chinese places around. So they can up charge.

February location is LOCKED IN!!! Event date will be 2/10/2013!

I visited the lucky winner today. The route is going to be a little tricky. New thread, route and FB event will be up in the next day or so.

    Here's a sneak peek:
Properly roasted, perfectly medium rare, tender roast beef.

That there in the middle is fresh grated horseradish. These guys don't play.
