What does the relay do for the horns? My bugeye had two horns. So I used the wire that went to each horn and attached one to each new horn and used the other pole on the new horns to the ground. They sound ok . just wandering if they would be louder with the relay.

Is RS's really that much lower? How does it compare to DB's?

Generally speaking dynojet reads highest. The dyno db has(can't remember what its called) is in the middle and mustang(what rd has) reads lowest. The spread is about 50whp diff from what I understand.

That's quite a generalization and likely very misleading to a new person reading the forums.

Generally Dynojets do read the highest. DynoDynamics (like DB has) and Mustang tend to read lower.

But recently it seems that I've seen a lot of Mustang dyno results that are a lot closer to Dynojet than they used to be.

For example the stock 2011 WRX that did 240WHP at RS. That's very similar to what they typically do on a Dynojet.

If you look in COBB's database (Mustang) dyno, their baseline runs for 09+ WRX and 08+ STI all average out close to 240WHP as well.

I have read it all depends how they calibrate the dyno or what correction factors they use (SAE corrections for baro pressure, humidity, and temp). The mighty car mods video showed them tweaking parameters to make the dyno read whatever they wanted.
Unless you guys are talking about uncorrected numbers?

I have heard about those "shootout mode" numbers that some dynos give out that just fudge some stuff to make it read higher.

Man what a day…… Good thing i had a few buddies to help!

Started with removing the stock intercooler, then replaced the stock pitch stop with the Beatrush Forged.

Secondly we put the Grimmspeed intercooler in, it was a very very tight fit and required a lot of hands to get everything to line up. It really isn't much bigger than the stock unit but the welds are gorgeous and just looks better in terms of quality.

After that we changed the oil and oil filter with Rotella T6 and a OEM blue filter.

Now it was time for the group N trans mount. The stock trans mount was rather easy to remove once we had the front and rear jacked up. You could feel a big difference in the rubber compound used between the metals plates on the mounts. I machine a lot of plastic and rubber at my current job. Probably 40A-50A (medium soft durometer) on the stock mount and 70A-80A (hard durometer) on the group N mount.

The most difficult part of the day was removing the stock rear differential tension bar and installing the Beatrush tension bar. Mostly because my exhaust was really close to one of the bolts and these had to be tongue'd to 80ftlbs.

My shifts are much more precise and crisp with less slop but it was a little weird at first to get use to. There is an increase in NVH but only with the windows up, i normally never use the AC and have the windows down.

Planned to install my Whiteline F/R 22mm sways but the guys wanted to go shoot at bills. My friend just got a Draco AK-47 pistol, man that thing is stupid loud lol. I have the AK-47 and it does not even come close to the fireball and noise that thing made.

I might change out the trans member bushings to Beatrush later on, they felt really soft and flimsy when we were under the car.

In the middle of draining out my cocktail right now. I went to Morrie's in Brooklyn Park this weekend and picked up 4 qts of the good stuff, at least I hope so. Both them and Minnetonka were completely out of Extra S in the 5 gallons and they didn't think they'd be getting anymore in. They have a "new", "high performance" oil that the parts guy said superseded the Extra S. I asked if it was safe for the bugeye and he said that's what they would put in it if I had brought it in for service. So with any luck I won't be draining this crap out anytime soon.

Sidenote on the cocktail, holy sh!t did it get thin in a hurry. When I first put it in I could tell right away that starting in 1st was a lot smoother but it's already back to how it was. I threw the car up on stands as soon as we got home tonight so I could drain it while it was still hot. Crap came out like rotten chocolate milk - thin like water with what seemed like some clumpy/chunky things. Hopefully this Subaru stuff does the trick.

    Great! Get that junk out!
The high performance gear oil is the same as the old extra s. Don't know why they renamed it.

Observations after installing the group N trans, Beatrush pitch stop and rear diff tension bar.

NVH was very high after install, the starter was very loud, the transmission would whine in 1st/2nd and the rear diff mount made the exhaust much louder in the cabin.

But after a few days of driving things have settle a little. Much less NVH and this could be from the bushings wearing in or me just getting use to it.

    Either way I like it!!

I might change out the group N trans mount for the Beatrush and change the transmission support brace bushings to Beatrush as well.

I just love what it did for shifting.

Pitch stop making the starter loud was the most noticeable thing for me.

I bet I have waaaaaay more than that sitting around. I'm so lazy.

All them virtual dyno runs...luckily E85 is even cheaper than last tank, I think I paid $2.28/gal!
    Sure beats $4/gal for E85

Oops yeah that was kinda confusing sorry, those two pics are both from 'after', just a different camera angle : )

I don't have a great 'before' side pic to compare against, but here's a crappy zoomed/cropped pic showing the front OEM setup before - gap city:

    IMG_0521.JPG

The new setup is subtle, about 1" lower in the front and 3/4" lower in the rear (with a 1/4" spacer to give the wagon a butt lift), but IMHO it makes a big difference in the looks.

Oil change! Went back to Amsoil full synthetic from Rotella T6. I prefer the longer change intervals and the reassurance I'm running a top notch product in my baby.

Also a week ago NF installed a South Bend DXD Stage 3 Daily clutch kit with a ACT StreetLite flywheel. Now have driven 280 miles with it and still trying to figure out engagement out of 1st gear without producing a burning smell haha..

Just picked up Rotella T6 for $19.99 at Menards in Golden Valley.

Got the same at Autozone for $26-$27 a few weeks ago.

    Why not :)

We drove to Duluth for the air show which was a bust due to the fog. We drove there and back on 1tank of gas. I am impressed on that. Oil change tomorrow. Then off to recycle the many jugs of used oil.

Found out old legacy qclips work well to strap your roof rack with a brand new anklebiter and cheapo bike on it to your Rex. Got the ankle for a steal and the bike too! Saweet. Oh and I had a beer once.
