Had the mechanic next door to our shop install a new cv shaft and inner tie rod on the WRX today. Only charged me $40 total (labor, I bought the parts), which is nice. Also stoked on the fact that "the list" is gradually getting smaller and smaller, thank god. Might have this thing "done" by spring...

Haha! It's very tall I know but it will work great at the track this summer. I feel like I have my ford ranger again lol that had a very long stick.

That must be a reference from fast and furious.

Material is less than a $1, probably 1 minute run time in a CNC lathe. Probably $5-$10.

I'll let Torque Solutions make these lol

Big thanks to NF for their help with the recent install of a load of stuff for my OBXT:
VF52, sti UP, Grimmspeed decat DP, Nameless full exhaust, and DW fuel pump, Also had a CC stage 2 clutch installed to handle the extra power after the tune (running 17PSI on 91RON into a grimmspeed intercooler).
With the decat and exhaust this think is LOUD ) My OBXT isn't much of a sleeper anymore!

Turbosmart Race Port BOV arrived but sadly the Torque Solution adapter is made for a Tial BOV as advertised. The problem is that both the Race Port and adapter share the same flange impression/step, so i will bring the adapter into work and make it a female, instead of them both being male :) @xluben

So, what's the issue? It's female instead of male? Oops. :(

Very odd because I've purchased two different FMIC kits with "Tial flange" and bolted up TurboSmart BOV's to them just fine.

What you planning on doing with your winter bumper? I'm looking for a slightly beatup 04-05 bumper for a summer project.

Yeah, one needs to be male and the other female. Easiest way to do this is make the adapter a male. Are you thinking of the other TurboSmart BOV? That would fit with no adapter. (note FMIC adapter shown to reference male groove)

No, I had the Race Port on my 2011 WRX and I have one on my 2002 WRX now. Maybe I'll have to pull it back off and take a look.

Installed this Rally Innovations Ultimate Lightbar on my WRX over the weekend. After 2.5 hrs of swearing and breaking myself trying to get the last two bolts installed, I gave up, zip-tied the whole thing together and finished putting it together with some longer bolts on Monday night. Now I have to figure out how to wire up my dual Hella 500 fogs and Rigid Industries 10" E-series light bar....

I really dig this! Let's assume that you lightly rear-end someone (or worse). What gets destroyed?

Hopefully just the rear bumper of whoever I hit. The bar is tied into the radiator support beam and the lower part of the front bumper. I assume that stuff would get tweeked in a big impact but who knows. The bolts/mounting brackets would hopefully take the brunt of it and dissipate some of the energy.

The bar itself is pretty damn solid but it's the bolts on either corner of the skid plate that tie everything together.

In any case, I don't want to find out what would happen but I'm confident I could ram through plenty of snowbanks and brush and whatnot without damaging anything, which is all I need it for.

I guess I could post a couple pics of my Subaru related project. I did this last weekend.

Picture from when I picked it up last summer:
    http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/Numbchux/04 Outback/NCM_0448.jpg

I took off almost everything that un-bolted over the fall, but last weekend started the cutting and bending. A couple pictures of how I left it:

Then I temporarily hung the "new" body panels on it so it doesn't look quite as much like a scrap yard:

Changed oil in the Legacy; pulled the bent sway bar off the front of the WRX. New poly bushings should be here tomorrow I believe.

So glad to finally be able to work on stuff again at home. Hooray for spring!

Oil change, spark plug change, and added more spacers to the skid plate (discovered skid plate and aluminum pan had been rubbing a little bit and had made silver gunk with the fluid from my leaky steering rack). Also installed a wolverine oil pan heater and relocated the battery to a aluminum box in the footwell of the rear passenger side (no rear seats, so no loss).

Extremely subtle HP... May have to do a different color, but I'll give it a try for now.

EDIT: Had the afternoon off, so I stopped in at Grimmspeed and was given a tour of the new facility by Art (Thanks, man!). Really exciting stuff happening at GS right now, and it just keeps on going. Now to keep on encouraging parts for the SJ FXTs.... :)
