Finished look with the new Method Race rims. Back of the XV is sagging pretty bad since the stock rims are in the back.
I always thought it would be awesome if Subaru would drop in the FA20F engine in the CrossTrek along with the 6spd gearbox and made it a CrossTWRX. Small powerful hatchback with mild-moderate off-road capabilities. I'd totally buy one.
^Cross Twerks...already been done by Miley. I think they should do a 3.3L H6 version. Then i'd buy one!(with proper gearing of course). Edit:better yet, a BRZ with a 3.3L. I'd buy two if that was the case. You hear me Subaru!?
They do. It's called a Forester 2.0XT. Ok fine, minus the 6 speed. But I do believe the Forester is built on the Impreza chassis.
Too much work! Straight EG33 swap son! The BRZ would be plenty fast enough with that setup. If you need a 800hp dori dori machine, then by all means!
I test drove a FXT before I bought my WRX. Probably would have bought one had it come in a 6spd. Maybe it's me, but the CVT mutes the driving experience - even when in Sport# mode. Other than that, I do like the FXT. Kind of miss the hood scoop, though.
Yea, I still have my FRS for when I feel the need to shift The longer I've had the FXT, the more that the CVT has grown on me. S# is akin to a dual clutch...except it can't quite hold the same amount of power. And oddly enough, the 0-60 times are fast in S vs in S# lol
Yeah, i'm with ya there mang! But, imagine the amount of fabrication that it must take to fit all of that into a Subaru! Godzillas AWD system and the motor would have to be horrendously expensive i would think!? I'm not saying that it's not the coolest thing evar, cuz it pretty much is! But i would have a ton of fun with a modest EG33 in a BRZ. Just saying that gives me a 3/4 chub every time. lol
If i'm going through all the work of swapping the motor in a BRZ to something sure as hell not gunna be a EG33 lol.
Finally got around to replacing my faulty crappy ambient temp sensor. Now the auto temp mode inside should work and the temp isn't reading a constant 122 degrees!
F-powder coats! Sorry, i'm still salty about my beautiful satin black powder coat getting destroyed by the incompetent at Tires Plus. I don't have the cash to have all 4 dismounted, blasted, re-coated, and remounted. Time to commit and spray over them...sigh.
Well let me know if you change your mind next winter. I have a buddy would has the stripping solution to quickly strip wheels and Id be willing to coat them for you for a decent price.
@JasonoJordan Damage from Tires Minus. All 4 have it. That's after dropping $300 to have them powder coated. And then spending a couple of days doing the WRB lips. At least when i have painted rims, if i get a boo boo, i can touch them up. Can't touch up powder coating. lol
Well you can but it is deff going to show haha. Id of been having them pay to get them re-coated that ridiculous. What they hell did they put on the wheels that took powder coating up? I guess I'd maybe be more concerned about the quality of the powerer coat after looking at the pictures further the tires look familiar.... lol
It's where they cleaned the rims for the wheel weights. I am unsure of what they use to clean them, maybe acetone? It didn't remove the powder coating, it just made it haze over and turn whitish. Going to be much whiter nowz.
Must of been really strong acetone to do that then cuz I've tried with all kinds of products to soften powder so its easier to blase and have not have much luck.
Dunno mang! I got two sets done at New Image Coatings in Circle Pines. He used to do all of Chimeras powder coating. Solid guy! I've been back to him a couple times since with smaller projects and his work is always stellar. He even reblasted on rim and did it again because he wasn't happy with how it turned out.(which I would expect from a good business owner)
Thanks brother! I usually do the index cards/playing cards method like most others do. But i'm redoing the time attack lip also, so I need to have a more detailed masking for that. I painted the inside of the barrels black. The face of the wheels white. And I'm going back with the world rally blue time attack lip for the win, because racecar
I masked it and used GrimmSpeeds WRB in dah rattle cans. Vinyl seems like it would be easier as long as it had really good adhesion. I miss the red on yours also.
Never take your damn wheels to them again. I'll do that **** for free before those ****s ruin more wheels.
As a late comment on the subject of BRZ swaps, this one from JUN is my favorite so far. Not sure if it's been brought up on here before but it's worth checking out. Basically they had a 2.4 V8 made from a pair of Kawasaki engines. Even though it doesn't make a ton of power it's a pretty sweet build. They even sell a complete kit to build your own like it for the low price of $70k. http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/01/kiwi-flavoured-lemon-jun-synergy-brz-v8/
^That one IS pretty sweet. I've seen it before. But there are alot of cheaper engines out there! You could do a number of swaps for $70k. I still like the purchase price of an H6. $800-1500 sounds like more of a "reality" for me personally.
