is that a speckle or flake? they look nice. how much would you charge?(if you were looking to do some that is)
base: https://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PMB-223/HEAVY-BLACK-METALLIC/ clear:https://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PPS-2974/CLEAR-VISION/ Just in powder I had $47 into it. The real pain is stripping it with no chemical. If I was doing it for just anyone I would prob charge $400 for pre stripped wheels $750 to do it if I had to strip the wheels as well. For good friends Ive done them for $200 if they bring me ready to coat parts. I'm not much of a fan of doing large items I enjoy doing smaller parts.
Totally agree. There are a lot of other swaps that would be as fast or faster than this for a tiny fraction of the cost. You could get a brand new BRZ, a pristine H6, and a truckload of mods for that much. Still a very cool build, but there are so many better ways to spend $70k.
Nice! I did a similar color on my wheels a while back, but went with paint instead of powdercoating (cheaper and more convenient for me).
Nice! Wish I had something a bit larger. I think fitting a 17" wheel in my current oven will be tricky. I just don't do enough coating to justify spending the money on a larger one, nor do I have the room for it. Not to mention it would take me an hour to blast one wheel with my tiny blaster ha
Yea having a big oven is really nice. My old job had just a small lab oven. I prefer coating smaller stuff anyway like I said. We have a plethora of smaller ovens here as well.
Recently picked up a cargo box for the STi and the FXT. Unfortunately the FXT can't get in and out of the garage with it on. New brakes. Hawk HPS 5.0 pads and Sector 27 rotors.
You are blessed with a beautiful fleet of Subarus @ryjacobs! Had to do it... Herra poked? That's a 437mm spacer ftw
2.2 -> 2.5 swap a couple weeks ago Also had my first snowfall! Then I hit a curb. Unfortunately what I did was dumber than hooning; I locked up my brakes after hitting a dirt patch around a corner going 10 mph.
Replaced the low beams which required removing the battery but only took a few minutes more. Read that the Osram Night Breaker unlimited were the ones to get so I went with those.
Better than doing headlight bulbs on a 10+ Outback...you have to go through the wheel well and pull back the fender liner. Easier if you take the wheel off. Oh, and they burn out so frequently, that Subaru even did a recall and offers free bulb replacement.
Is it like on the old wrx they used the low beam as running light that were always on so they burned out about once a year in my wrx till I ripped the DRL module out of the car. Had the same set of bulbs for the next 3 years after doing that...
I got my bumper repaired and figured I'd pay the shop to install my kartboy short shift with bushings while they had it for a few days. I don't have a ton of experience in modifying my car but I like the change - it's a much shorter throw. A little tighter/more notchy than I thought it might be but I think I'm going to like it in the long run.
Dropped off my poor WRX at Schoonover's in Shoreview last night for repairs. Got hit while driving on the U of M Minneapolis campus yesterday when some lady who wasn't looking decided to take a left turn from the middle lane into me, who was in the left lane. Gonna have to make some calls first thing Monday morning. I hate dealing with insurance. Wouldn't be surprised if they try to find me partially at fault for being there, driving on that road, or just having existed at all. Last time I dealt with insurance was when I was on a bicycle and got hit by a car also taking a left turn and wasn't looking. I was in a bike lane and obeying all traffic laws and even had witnesses and the hitter's insurance said I was partially at fault for having been in the bike lane when he was turning. They probably figured some college kid didn't have the resources to hire a lawyer to get 100% and they could save on paying by making up some BS. At least this time, I have dashcam footage of the lady hitting my car.
Yikes. I hope things get resolved quickly! The dashcam footage will be the turning point when insurance sees it.
exactly, well stated. I just need to break it in the way I like it, not fresh and stiff out of the box...
I also fixed a stupid high pitched whining from the blower motor inside the car. Thanks to Subaru for saving $10 and making me spend $40 to fix it https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2757152
I get (what I assume) is a similar whine in gears 1/2 of my fan as well (particularly with the heat on) that makes for the most annoying background noise, both driving, and for anyone on the other end of the call when I use the Bluetooth. I wonder if this would work for the FXT...
@JuStaWRX, check out this post/thread. http://www.subaruforester.org/vbull...-merged-thread-301794/index4.html#post6013953 Several posters in there stating same issue and easy solution. Good luck!
Installed sports grill on my 2014 XT Touring, disabled daytime running lights, installed Diode Dynamics interior LED'a minus trunk, and installed Diode Dynamics Fog light bulb replacements which match the HIDS nicely and seem a brighter at first glance. Easy, enjoyable, and affordable albeit the sports grill.
This looks like the solution I'm looking for! Will be giving this a try very soon! Thanks for the link @klutz ! https://www.subaruparts.com/oem-parts/subaru-under-cover-ay-p-lhd-66066fj010?_vsrefdom=p.552
Yes! Thank you for posting...I need to order one of these covers. I wonder if it would work in my FRS also (that car also has the annoying blower fan). FYI, for OEM part purchases in the future, call Morries Minnetonka Subaru parts. MNSubaru members get a 20% discount...sometimes more. They also offer the discount on WeatherTech floor mats, even if they have to order them in
I was told that Weather Tech don't qualify for the discount, can anyone confirm? I don't know why I didn't think of it for this part...
They offered me the discount on the Weather Tech's (he checked their cost, and the price after discount was still higher, so he honored it), but that was about a year ago when they just started carrying Weather Tech. It's possible they don't offer the discount any more.
If you haven't seen my, uhh, "build" thread, I had KYB AGX struts, Racecomp Regular Guy Lowering Springs, and Group N STI tophats installed in front and an alignment. I'll have the same installed in the rear when I have the correct tophats delivered. Shoutout to Jeff the Alignment Guy for his patience with me and my inability to Google things right.
Got out the ole Dremel and a piece of gutter guard and changed up the grille. It's not perfect but for $5 and an hours time I like the change. Also installed a PA speaker to my CB. Pics too come once I get a new emblem on the grille.
Checked the earl, tire pressure, and lugs on the RSVX and brought her home today to be my DD while the WRX is down. A week of 3.3L goodness!
Tried to reduce the RSVX emissions(in the cab). lol Headache was less severe after the drive home...WIN!? Suppose that I COULD put the rear seats in. Hahahaha
