I had Lemetrys take a look at a few things last fall to get an idea of what it would cost and what would have to get done. This was when i only had a few rock chips, and they said that I would need a new hood to start from scratch. Otherwise the alternative was chemical stripping the whole thing, then doing the body work, then painting.

Edit: My bumper is also flaking away, and that made me realize that this bumper was silver at one time, they painted right over it. So I would need a new bumper as well.

Curious question why the 02 wrx tails if you have the notched out bumper that allows you to run much better looking tails?

There was a parts mixup at the dealer and I didn't realize I had an 04/05 bumper until it was painted and mounted on the vehicle. I don't know if I want the new tails honestly. The car is an 03.

Replaced the battery in my outback.
Put in a group 34 as an upgrade Which gives me way more cca and reserve power. Fit perfect with no modification.

Bought a set of Thule racks and a bike carrier. Used to be a fairly serious (but non-competitive) mountain biker back in my days before getting married and having kids. Since the kids' Burley bike trailer fits nicely in the trunk, I figure I can take them out for rides at parks and stuff. Their trailer has a suspension and they have helmets, I wonder how well it would hold up on some trails...

I'm looking at a new MTB. I ride a 12 year old Scott Scale and have been looking at possibly a new Scale RC in 29er or possibly going to a full suspension like the Spark or Cannondale Scalpel. So many nice rides out there, it's hard to decide.

Don't do it! Which singletrack do you ride most? Preference is what it is but I truly believe that there is absolutely no use for a squishy butt around here except one or two lines at Spirit.

I went with a diehard gold. The group 34 ends up listing in their computers as fitting a Chrysler Pacifica. But it fit perfect with no issue (even still uses that top clip) And it appears to have solved all my issues of weak battery.

I don't ride anything technical. I rode some of the beginner trails at Lebanon Hills and once at Afton ( I think it was Afton) following a more experienced biker. The climbs there killed me. Actually, I think they weren't all that bad, just trying to keep up with him was what got me. I mostly stick to trails around the northern burbs like Elm Creek Park reserve and paved trails in and around the metro area.

I'm going to demo a few bikes at Now Cycle and Fitness in Arden Hills later this week. Going to check out the Scott Spark and Cannondale Scalpel just for the sake of trying a fully. I do have my eye on the Scott Scale RC 900 Pro and maybe a Cannondale F-Si as two possible hardtails options. Supposedly Scott redesigned the frame for more flex in the seat stays and seat post for greater comfort. I dunno... My heart says hardtails, but my butt says fully.

Yes I did. I ordered it online and just picked it up in store (at the auto center, not the regular in store pick up)

I still have to bring my core battery back and get the refund. Sears has a $20 core charge (I don't remember it being so high, but it's been like 8 yrs since I purchased a battery at sears)

I'm one of those die hard fully rigid singlespeed folks so don't put too much stock in what I said. In the end, trust your butt. If full squish makes trail time more comfortable and enjoyable allowing you to thoroughly enjoy dirt church, go for it and appreciate every squishy millimeter of travel bestowed upon your backside!

I got so sick of it raining within 24 hrs of washing her, so I went with the unlimited washes for $35/month plan. Now I'm addicted to washing the car!

Be careful with over-washing though - even the touchless ones. I can see the toll it took on my clear coat which I will need to do some legit restorative stuff with it I think. I have had my unlimited pass (through Holiday) for several years, and used it both with my WRX and now with FXT. Didn't have any issue on the WRX...

My paint is jacked anyway. Clear coat is spider webbing around the front bumper, near the fogs. I should really just wash it by hand, but I'm a lazy bastard. Although, a good clay bar application might be cool to try. I've never used one, so maybe I'll get around to doing that this summer yet.

Replaced the radiator and our 05 LGT. I noticed the tranny fluid was kind of dark. Is there a plug to dump that or do you have to Remove the pan? 5eat

Were the positive and negative posts on opposite sides, or the same as OEM? (The Interstate website shows the posts on opposite sites for 35 vs 34, but I don't know if the pictures are accurate).

I need a new battery in my Forester, and if it's not covered by warranty, I'll just buy my own. Wouldn't mind the extra CCA's.

The post were in the correct spots for the outback. It was just a bit longer than the factory one. But the tray was big enough no problem.

Yeah I got sick of low power issues. If I drove the car for around 30 minutes, and then parked it it would have a long crank like a low battery. Once it was running I didn't have issue and could drive it 2 hrs with no problem.
But every test said it was good. So it was worth it to just replace it to me. It seems to also be the reason my factory remote start would fail more often than not when trying to start the car.

Love YouTube, there's a video for everything! It's a plug on the bottom. I know the video is for a Foz, but should be the same or similar for all the 4EATs.

Cool, thanks for the photo! It is opposite on the Forester, but even if I go with the group 35, most aftermarket batteries are significantly better than the OEM junk battery.

My Forester suffers from similar issue but my remote start (aftermarket) is the most annoying. It will start (cranks slowly) but sometimes shuts off a second after it starts because it senses low voltage/amperage. I've had the dealer test the battery once, and it just barely passed. They wouldn't replace it and said to come back in a month and try again! I might just pull the trigger on a new battery.

Hello Walbro 255! Just in time for my tune at JM tomorrow.

I also got my critical habitat plates with the loon; pics to come after it rains or I wash my car, whatever comes first.

I can't believe how low the CCA of the factory battery was. For the amount of electronics in these cars the reserve power was so low. I never had a problem with my crosstrek battery (I assume it was OEM it was a Subaru Branded one and I never changed it.) but the outback was just bad. And I have a power liftgate, so sometimes it's a lot of open and close.

I'm really surprised subaru didn't just replace my battery when they did my throttle sensor (it had a crap ton of codes due to low voltage) but they said it was "fine"

My remote start would often fail. just wouldn't start. I think the crank time was just too long.

Hillside is my personal hell. The rough trail, the near-death fear inducing skinnies, and the fact that the entire cluster of trails was built and is maintained specifically for 26" wheels and those who still cling to them.

The remote start is nice in winter. (Though it's a OEM one so it shuts off when you open a door, which is dumb)

But both that and the power liftgate were just bonuses on the car.
The liftgate is nice when you have arm loads of groceries to carry in the house. Just poke the button and it closes while you carry. But it's not so nice when you take the family camping and the sleeping bags are too close and it won't close (unlike a regular liftgate where you can just cram them in since sleeping bags will squish when needed)

Did they change the models of starters over the years? The PO installed an OEM one in my car and it stays on when you open the door.
