Congrats on your purchase, ha! I simply don't have the space for a rack right now, otherwise I'd be all over building out my own storage server. I wanted easy and reliable with this, and that's what I got. It has 8 WD Reds in it (4x4TB and 4x3TB) from my previous devices. It does exactly what I need it to, so I'm perfectly happy. Next on my list is a more robust virtualization server. At least more robust than my 2012 Mac Mini.
Got some new wheels and tires for the Pilot yesterday (my winter vehicle). Pics for comparison from how it looked when I bought it: After adding a brush guard, off-road lights, side steps, and smoked side markers: And now with the 16x8 +0 wheels and semi-knobby tires: Still plan on doing a couple other things with it (tinting the rear lights, swapping out for LED off-road lights, and maybe some narrow flares).
well I may have posted previously but after 11 or so years last september I pulled this out of storage and started buying parts... m going to start a different thread... but I have purchased a bunch of things... wheels, bushings, rear seat, interior stuff, suspensions stuff, brake stuff....
13BREW out of the FD rx7.. I came across a package that got me intercooler to trans... come out running.. hope it runs when I get it in
Finally got one from MAPerformance. Have to say, Ian was great to work with and he promptly answered all my questions thoroughly during my email exchange with him prior to buying. Got the 91 octane tune (no 93 anywhere in my area).
I'd love to hear how you like the switch. I'm still at stock and strongly considering MAP and the accessport.
I'd do it again without a second thought. The 91 octane tune is great. First thing I noticed was the linear pedal response. Darn near stalled a couple times starting out from a standstill since I was so used to the stock on-off switch throttle. I can control the throttle better with more pedal throw and not over-rev the engine like a goon at stoplights. Boost comes on more smoothly and doesn't fluctuate as much. Not sure how accurate the stock boost gauge is, but the needle doesn't oscillate nearly as much as before. I can actually control how much boost I want with some careful pedal control. You don't get that mid-range rush anymore, but a continuous pull up to redline. I've read some feel like the engine makes less power, but MAP has dyno data that claims about 10% gains in HP and TQ. I really hated how the stock tune left the engine out of breath past 5000rpm. It was rather anticlimactic and annoying like not finishing a senten-* At any rate, I tend not to drive my car hard and can count on one hand how often I put my foot down for wot in a month. I mainly enjoy the linear throttle map and the smoother gain in boost. If you do it, just keep in mind your warranty is done. I was on the fence for over a month before I made up my mind and went for it. If you want, you are welcome to check out my car once it's out of the body shop later next month.
Love it. I may take you up on it. I appreciate the generous offer. Good luck with the repairs. Always sucks to get in an accident. Moreso if it's a new car!
Mark, I love that color. A Colorado in that color and dark blue were on my short list of vehicles I was considering when I bought my 4Runner. How are you liking it so far? Which trim level did you go with?
Looks great! I'm also very curious to hear how you like it...specifically the build quality (as compared to subaru, and over time) and towing ability (if you ever tow with it).
I really, really wanted the blue, which is really close to the LBP my WRX was (parked side by side they're just a shade or two off). The "Cyber Gray Metallic" is growing on me, though, I have to admit. It really picks up hints of the colors around it and so it looks different all the time. So far, I'm liking it, and the family approves, so that's good. It is: Z71 trim level with the Bose + Nav upgrades, towing package (no controller though) and dealer-added LED bed lights (meh). Short list of things to install: REDARC Tow-Pro Elite brake controller (ordered, but ships from Australia) Roll-up Tonneau cover Some kind of bed liner, either a beg rug style, or a smooth spray-on like Line-X. Nerf bars (can't decide on style though) Diode Dynamics SS30 rally light bar with Rough Country Colorado-specific grill mounts (tucks in the grill opening above the license plate holder) LED Headlight conversion We shall see. The dealer installer was sloppy with the bed lights install, I can tell you that. Found fasteners in the back seat loose and in the bed as well. Plus, of course, Belzer's has to stick vinyl logos all over the damn truck in addition to the license plate holder. Got all those peeled off today in the nice warm sun and then cleaned up any residual adhesive. Can still see a faint outline where they were if you look super close with exactly the right angle of light, which irritates me, but at least I got them off before the paint fades unevenly. Oh, and surprising nobody, paint quality is much better than the Subaru. And nothing rattles so far, at ~80 miles on the odo, so there's that too.
It's been an expensive month of stress-shopping... Got two new kayaks and gear (very entry level models on sale at Sam's Club), two different roof rack systems for said kayaks, and then yesterday, picked up the Apple Watch 2 Nike+ Edition. The Kayaks are obnoxiously orange, and I'm strangely ok with it... we also found some clearance collapsible paddles on https://www.rei.com/rei-garage, and two new life vests from the closing sale at the Woodbury Gander Mountain. At first i picked up the Thule system from a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman on Craigslist, but found that the bars were much thicker than the OEM bars (pictured below). Went and got different hardware to adapt it, but just was not thrilled with the fitment. Fortunately, a family member has a 2014 Mini Cooper Countryman that was able to use the system. Then, I just decided to go with my tried and true, and got the Yakima JayLow adjustable system. I think I will be much happier with this! Photos to come when locks come in/system is installed. Finally, the Apple Watch. I have been eyeing these since they came out, but just never pulled the trigger. This coming weekend I graduate with my Ed. S., and decided that this was an appropriate time to "treat yo' self". I am also lucky to have a friend who works at the Apple store who was able to score a 25% Family and Friends Discount which was AWESOME. So far, loving the watch. I had the Garmin Forerunner15 (no heart rate monitor) before hand, and that was good for running, but limiting for most other fitness activities (biking, swimming, etc.).EDIT: If anyone has apps that they have really enjoyed for the AppleWatch, please let me know ! On to the photos...
I've never owned an American Strat before, so I finally decided to pull the trigger. I picked up a new American Professional Stratocaster in Olympic White with the Rosewood board the other day, and yup, it's fantastic.
Just need to dip the wheels black and tint the front 3 windows. lol Fwiw, they call it "dark blue"...looks black to me tho.
Yeah, slowly making it my own thing. It needs brakes done this year, and the paint on the front bumper is peeling in spots. May have it resprayed or go with a front lip that covers the offending area (lower grille). Possibly might do a muffler delete pipe this year as well.
Word. Speaking of front lips...my buddy just got his body stuff and wheels on today. Front lip, side skirts, and rear spats. Should see it at the LaXCruise!
Looks like a classic Nardi wheel to me dude. But speaking of semi trucks...i think that one of these would be toight doe!?
I bought some rebar and washing soda. Then I went home, and assembled along with some crap in the garage, and started doing some electrolytic rust removal from the front calipers from my 4Runner (3 pistons from the first caliper were seized...) After a couple hours (a part like this should probably be treated for 4-6) I'll try to get some daylight photos of the results, obviously with the short soak it isn't perfect, but good enough for a brake caliper. I'll get a coat of POR15 on them this weekend.
You know, I have a set of universal 5-lug wheels that I pulled off my Biscayne that would probably fit on that. Just need some new tires and you could be rolling on these sweet 80-spoke 16" Players...
